Permanent Makeup Training Model Q&A

Q: What is a training model?
A: A training model is someone receiving a permanent makeup procedure performed by a student who has
successfully completed the theory and permanent makeup fundamentals portion of the course. Every procedure
is closely supervised by the instructor throughout the appointment.

Q: Does the procedure hurt?
A: Topical numbing is used throughout the procedure to help keep you as comfortable as possible. Most clients
tolerate the procedure very well.

Q: How long will my appointment take?
A: Please plan for approximately 2–3 hours for your appointment.

Q: Why does a training appointment take longer?
A: Training appointments take longer because the instructor guides the student step-by-step through the
procedure while teaching proper technique, safety, and artistry.

Q: Will the instructor be supervising?
A: Yes. The instructor is present throughout the procedure and closely supervises the student.

Q: How should I prepare for my appointment?
A: 48–72 hours before: Avoid omega-3 supplements, fish oil, aspirin, ibuprofen (Tylenol is okay), exfoliating
products, and blood-thinning supplements unless prescribed.
3 days before: No alcohol. Limit caffeine to one 6-ounce cup per day.
Additional preparation: Stop brow/lash growth serums as appropriate. Discontinue Latisse® and OTC lash
growth serums 3 months before eyeliner. Do not tan. Remove lash extensions and bring glasses instead of
contacts for eyeliner.

Q: What should I expect during healing?
A: The treated area will appear approximately 20–30% darker during the first week. Eyeliner and lip
procedures may have mild to moderate swelling during the first few days.

Q: Will I need a touch-up?
A: It varies. Touch-ups may be scheduled 6 weeks or later after your original procedure.

Q: What if I already have old permanent makeup?
A: Please send a clear photo beforehand so we can determine whether you are a candidate.

Q: Can I bring someone with me?
A: Yes, you are welcome to bring a guest. We kindly ask that you do not bring small children who require
supervision or anyone who may be disruptive during the training.

Q: What should I do after my procedure?
A: Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided. For the first 2 weeks avoid tanning, heavy exercise,
swimming, hot tubs, and saunas.

Procedure-Specific Questions
Q: What does an eyebrow procedure consist of?
A: Choose from Powder, Ombre, Nano Hair-Stroke, or Combination Brows. Brows may be waxed and shaped
one week prior and will be cleaned up and shaped at your appointment as needed.

Q: What does an eyeliner procedure consist of?
A: Choose upper lash enhancement, lower eyeliner, or both. Pigment is implanted along the lash line in a thin-to-medium thickness.

Q: What does a lip procedure consist of?
A: Choose a soft natural lip blush, a more vibrant lip color, or a lip liner blended into the lip tissue. If you have
ever had a cold sore (HSV-1), notify your student and instructor and begin Valtrex® or Cyclovir as directed by
your physician before your appointment.

Beauty Service Timing
• Complete lash lifts, lash tints, and brow tints before your PMU appointment.
• Have brow laminations at least 2 weeks before a brow procedure.
• Wait 4 weeks after an eyeliner procedure before having a lash lift or lash tint.
• Wait 4 weeks after a brow procedure before having a brow lamination.
